I was fascinated by the technology and various disciplines used in obtaining and interpreting the physical evidence. Forensic science covers a multiplicity of discipline such as biology, medicine, etc. and applies them to the legal field. Forensic evidence can't be changed and in most cases can be the final nail in bringing a criminal to justice.
If you share a curiosity regarding how crimes are solved in a detailed manner, this book is the one for you. It gives a broad general view of the discipline and makes us appreciative of the wide ranging team of law enforcement professionals who work in concert to solve baffling crimes through the use of science.

Johnnie Cochran, and the Achievement of (African Americans series) by Cookie Lommel looks into the legacy of the most honored African American Lawyer. Even before the "Trial of the Century" Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. has been fighting for those who have been abused by the system. Although Cochran had been a Lawyer for over thirty years, he will no doubt be remembered for his impact on the O.J. Simpson Case.
In concerning O.J.'s case, Johnnie Cochran stragity was simple, present reasonble doubt by proving the rush to judgement by the LAPD, expose the lies of the police and detectives(especially Mark Furhman), and to challenge and defeat Marica Clark's "mountian of evidence". In all of those cases he succeeded, and O.J. was a free man. But no matter what you view of him, he is one of the greatest lawyers in the country. For defending minorities, and high profile clients such as O.J. Simpson, Puff Daddy, Cochran has reached unbelieveable hights that hasn't been granted to African Americans.

Grade 5-10-This volume provides little information that is not available elsewhere. Lommel often quotes academics pontificating on rap as a manifestation of social problems, but the quotes are not directly sourced. The bulk of the book is a familiar parade of rap names. A final chapter discusses how performers have become moguls, overseeing empires that take rap style-as in clothing-to a mainstream American audience. Black-and-white photos of the performers and a one-page list of seminal albums are included. The list for further reading is not very complete. James Haskins's One Nation under a Groove: Rap Music and Its Roots (Hyperion, 2000) is more attractive and, while the writing is at times academic, it is one of the most current and well-done books of its kind.
